ABOUT THE ANNUAL SURVEY
EDITORIAL COMMENT:
Every Year at Spring time we conduct our annual survey, in an attempt to improve the club in all areas. From the content, to procedures to member interactions. I hope you find it interesting to see what is of interest to others. Although almost all respondents included thier names, the results are provided confidentially, and are taken for face value as these answers are really representative of the voice of the entire memebership. i agree with most, and would have been harder in my response to some questions. But, first, I would like to thank those who provided an input for our 2004 survey. I really appreciate it. Feedback and open dialog is the most important aspect for any club or public service. This is a pivotal year for this site and club and so the survey was very important. Every year I want to reassess this little hobby project, to determine if it is still fun, if it is a worth while effort and good use of my time. That the concept of a internet club is viable and self sustainable. We have two crisis this year, one is that our hosting company is going out of business, which means that I have to find a new server, spend hours to move the site and reset up features, and begin to pay to maintain it monthly. Our monthly dues that we receive will cover about two months. The second is that although membership is up, interaction or site usage is still at a low level, not providing much hope of site growth. i think the results show a marginal basis for the club to continue, however we are still struggleing with how to get more members involved into the exchange of information, if this is possible at all? Many have joined with the good intentions of participating but few have followed through. We are competing with many obsticles, like a normal family life, work and other hobbies. I personally find this a great challange to work around. So, we need to tailor the club to accomodate all lifestyles and needs. This survey helps in a small way, but i know much more growing is required in order to achieve a rewarding experience as a member of the club.

THE BIGGEST COMPLAINT
Most were kind in this response with over 60% indicating no complaints!
A few suggestions were :
- my inability to finance elite membership
- First and last time I was on the site I didn't see much in the way of medium format. Maybe I didn't know where to look.
- Not much sales item in.
- Not really a complaint, but it's hard to do everything yourself; with more involvement more articles

HOW CAN WE GET FOLKS TO PARTICATE
- Create controversy
- Maybe by making it more relevant to teachers of photography in schools and colleges?
- get the word out about your site. I found it by accident
- Free Beer !!! Just joking ! Not sure right now .
- As I see things now the internet is by far the best way to go; perhaps a monthy feature of an item,[ maker or style], or person and their collection.
- If I only knew... [choice of topics that are advertized for a specific date and duration, maybe]
- Obviously there is some growth to the group. This is a nitch and if you notice is is almost exclusively male. If there is a way to include the female there will be a big change in the participation
- don't know
- OK - here's one idea. Send an email to sellers of antique cameras on eBay giving the winner of the item a free Basic membership. All the winner would have to do is to go to your FREE MEMBERSHIP page, given to them by the seller. Seller wins, giving away more. Winner wins - getting more. And you win.
- how can we get folks to participate:: Very short surveys do fine, or at least until you learn who you are attracting now and how they think. Seems rather basic I know - but the most often overlooked in the chase is the need to really know the clients.
- I'm not sure, but it's a good idea.

HOW CAN WE GET FOLKS TO COMMUNICATE
- To admit the truth, I didn't know you had one! Based on my experience with other forums, they more often than not end up donimated by a few who like to think are enhancing their own reputation. In other words, ego trps that get boring after a few weeks - so, my suggestion would not be to reward numerous posts - instead restrict them! Two great examples - RetouchPro - dominated by the few who post the most - on the opposite side CoOL - (Consservation OnLine) where even getting through to qualify for posting establishes real credibility. Both are OK sites but if you want "real info" which would you choose- quality or quantity? RetouchPro has very few "pros", CoOL has nothing but. So far my guess would be that you are going to attract more by appealing to the later. Conservation Online numbers must be 100 times RetouchPro's although you would think it should be the opposite.
- Generate your own questions..
- Broaden range of discussions.
- Remember the "Kiss principal"; and keep-it-simple-stupid and free of extra work for the viewers; I think that most everybody has far more on their plate today
- Good idea for the best use of the internet.
