Thanks for the kind words of encouragement. I enjoy helping and documenting this area of information and I do hope it is useful for others and that it in a small way enriches their lives. I really feel good about this project and how far it has come.
Yes, there is some burn-out associated with it too, some slow down by choice to balance the give and take, so that I don't get disappointed with a one sided relationship of giving. The choice to provide less updates stems from my disappointment in member support and lack of the acheivement of my personal goal for this site. That goal was to create a self sufficient site where members would share their collections and information. We still have growing to do and I am still hopeful it will someday happen. But the reality of the matter is that so far not many have shared, even when offered free gifts, like through our contests. I see members auctioning off rare camera's on ebay with great images of their photographica, but they won't post an image in the messageboard or gallery to share the historical information with others, or even just email me the pic to upload to the history librarium.
I am reading out of this survey that there are many folks that enjoy receiving collecting and historical info about photography, however there are NOT a lot of folks interested in sharing information from their own collections or paying for it even through purchases or clicking to sponsors. Membership only grew when I made the basic membership free. so, you gotta go with what works. Thats not to say that some are willing to help in some way and the few connections that i have made are great and well worth the efforts, when members do contribute, they have in a big way and to me its all worth it so far.
