Club News!

Web Site Update: This past month updates were slow due to real job commitments. However the most noteworthy updates are for the inclusion of new images in our History Librarium. Starting with a Kodak advertising campaign of 1909. Click here if you did not see it yet. Also some rare photos of classic cameras were added to the gallery. Most were made possible by my friend Paul who allowed me to photography a small part of his collection. Click here for a few of the photos.. The librarium also started a section, for lens and emphemera that I will be populating this quarter.

2004 Calendars: Due to the lack of photo entries for the member collection calendar we are not having a calendar this year. Maybe next year. In place of this opportunity we have a very nice club calendar from our member Andrea from Alinari collection http://www.alinari.com/ . Very nice. You can purchase a copy at http://www.cafeshops.com/historiccamera/167802

January Kicks Off our 2004 Restoration Event: That's right lets all start the new year right by cleaning up those old cameras and photos. I have started an exclusive associate members only message board detailing some tips and techniques to restoring your old cameras, Like leather restoration, button replacement, and more. You will need your HCCC login and password. If you have problems just email me. Please help us all by contributing to the message board. Basic members please upgrade to associate membership to join in the fun its only $20 a year. Here is the link: http://www.historiccamera.com/cgi-bin/messageboard/view.pl also llok for the newly drafted restoration article by our member repair/ restoration export Frank due for release shortly. Frank has been a camera mechanic for the past 30 years and we are all fortunate to benefit from his experience and willingness to help.

Two years after its introduction it has grown in popularity that enabled this article. Interesting description and write up. The featured article are usually only available for associate members, but this quarters article is open to all members. Click here to read the article. Enjoy!

Donations: The club received a donation from a midwest couple of box cameras. I will try to think of a way to raffle them off this upcoming quarter.

Skirball Center Event: The skirball center of Los Angeles contacted HCCC to get the word out about their multi-facited exhibit " The Photograph and the American Dream". Check it out if you have not already http://www.skirball.org

Significant Collection For Sale: HCCC has been requested to assist Mr. Allan Armour of New York sell his prized collection of Photographic memorabilia. Mr. Armour's significant collection has been enjoyed for years in his New York office by many visitors and has been written up in the new York Daily, Antique Trader Annual and a British paper. The collection mainly comprises magic lanterns, projectors and stereoscope equipment. Mr. Armour would like to sell the entire collection in its entirety and not piece part.

Web Site Stats: Site Traffic has again dramatically increased. In September the site recorded almost 50,000 page impressions, a new record. October page views were declining and December is typically a slow month. Our biggest attractions were the history librarium's gallery and our classified ads.

Q4 New Memberships: Sign up for the quarter has been good. We had 15 new members join his quarter. This brings our membership up to 146 listed. Please welcome our new members:
