Lancaster's Improved Special 86' Camera

The Improved Special Camera was manufactured by J. Lancaster & Son from approximately 1886 to 1910. Advertised as light portable and strong. Constructed of polished mahogany box with reinforced brass bound corners and fitted with a leather bellows extending to twice the ordinary length with rack work adjustment. Features include a reversing frame, rising and falling front and a hinged ground glass plate in back of the camera fixes the dark slide in an instant. Available in quarter plate, half plate, full plate, 10 x 8, 12 x 10 and 15 x 12. Prices ranged from £2 10s to £8 8s.
