The Pony Premo No. 5 Camera was manufactured by the Rochester Optical Company beginning in 1898. This camera was the same as the Pony Premo No. 4 except that it had the added features of a double sliding front adjustment and a fine rack and pinion movement for focusing. Constructed throughout of the finest mahogany and covered with black grain leather. This camera was able to be adapted for glass plates, cut films or roll film.
Features include a reversible back to instantly change the orientation from horizontal to vertical position, an adjusting front for sky and foreground. A hinged back door allows full sized view of the image for focusing. The ground glass screen is spring acting and recedes to allow the insertion of the plate. the view finder is placed in a covienent position on the bed.
The Pony Premo No. 5 is fitted with a Victor rapid rectilinear lens and a Victor shutter having pneumatic release and iris diaphragms, with time and instantaneous capabilities.. Available only in 4 x 5 inch size. Originally priced at $25.00. Cut film holder or cartridge roll holder were extra.
