The Pony Premo Senior was manufactured by the Rochester Optical Company beginning in 1896. Designed similar to the regular pattern but with the additional adjustments of double swing, rising and sliding front, and rack and pinion movement for focusing. It combines ease of manipulation, extreme compactness, portability and fine finish.
The 4 x 5 Pony Premo Sr. measures only 5 3/4 x 6 3/4 x 2 3/8 inches when closed and weighs 34 ounces. Constructed of select mahogany, covered with fine grain leather and the metal is polished and lacquered brass. Fitted with a Victor Rapid rectilinear lens and a victor shutter with pneumatic release and iris diaphragm. Either glass plates or a roll holder can be used on this camera. This camera was available in threes sizes, 4 x 5, 5 x 7 and an uncommon 6 1/2 x 8 1/2 inch. Originally priced at $28.00, $38.00 and $48 respectively.
