The Knack was manufactured by the Scovill Manufacturing company in c1890. Advertised as "There's knack in making a first rate camera that can be sold for $15. There's knack in taking a picture with any kind of a camera so that in supplying the camera and the knack at the same time you ought to make a good picture". The Knack detective hand camera was similar to the antique oak camera but at a much more affordable price. Made in 4 x 5 size for plates and available in either antique oak finish or leather covering.
