The Newman & Guardia Half-Plate Pattern Camera was manufactured from approximately 1894 to 1902. The half-Plate camera pattern was the same as the Pattern B camera except that it was a bigger size. This camera is made in two sizes, a half plate (6 1/2 x 4 3/4 inches) and a double Quarter plate (6 1/2 x 4 1/4 inches). The dobule quarter plate is considerably less bulky and lighter.
Like other N&G cameras, this camera was able to be fitted with any lens desired, however it was provided with a Zeiss Anastigmat f6.3 lens. A special high efficiency, metal shutter working between the lens, with hermetically-closed pneumatic regulation for speeds from 1/2 to 1/100 of a second for finger or bulb, including time exposures.
The Half-Plate Pattern Camera features a double extension front, a vertical and horizontal rising front, automatic spring door, detachable changing box for plates or film, two special T-levels, two N&G real image identical view finders, special focusing screen, central rack and pinion, focusing scale engraved with 2 yards to infinity, a special wired handle for strength and a tripod screw and bushings. Constructed of well-seasoned mahogany and covered with real black morocco leather.
