The original Newman & Guardia Sibyl Camera was introduced in 1906 and continued into the 1940s. The original model has an aluminum front standard, which was quickly replaced with a black painted front. Available with a Cooke Series III, f6.3 lens or a Zeiss Tessar with a spring powered sector shutter with pneumatic regulation and speeds of 1/2 to 1/100 of a second. Constructed with an aluminum body, black bellows and covered in leather. Capable of taking exposures on single metal dark slides, 2 1/2 x 3 1/2 inches. Additional features included a rising front, single extension, direct eye-level view finder, focusing scale to 2 yards latice extension for bellows and lens support.
