The Newman & Guardia Sibyl De Luxe Camera was manufactured from approximately 1909 and continued at least through the 1920s. Sibyl De Luxe Model No. 1 is depicted to the right. The main improvement for this version of the Sibyl camera is the long focus, triple extension bellows. It was also available in a roll film version.
Constructed of metal, covered in the best morocco leather and a black bellows of the finest leather. Capable of taking plate exposures 2 1/2 x 3 1/2 inches or quarter plate exposures 3 1/4 by 4 1/4 inches in size.
The Sibyl deluxe is compact in size but complete in efficiency. The weight of the camera with one 1/4-plate dark slide in position is 21 1/4 ounces, and with a 3 1/2 x 2 1/2 sized plate, the weight is 15 1/2 ounces.
Fitted with either a Zeiss Double Protar VIIa No. 4 f6.3 lens or a Ross Convertible f6.3 lens. The Shutter works automatically between the extremes speeds of 1/2 to 1/100 of a second and time exposures can also be taken.
