Vive No. 1 Camera

datasheet_loginThe Vive no. 1, or the $5.00 dollar Vive, was manufactured from 1896 to 1902. Advertised as being able to take the largest picture, 4 1/4 x 4 1/4 inches, of any other $5.00 camera on the market. It was designed with a dark sleeve to change plates in the camera. I contained 12 metal combination glass plate and cut film holders that were capable of holding up to 24 S.R.V. backed glass plates or up to 72 S.R.V. backed cut films. It was covered with fine seal grain black leather, metal fittings finished in black. Fitted with a universal tripod socket, large brilliant square finder and an improved shutter for instant and time pictures. The outside dimension measured 4 7/8 x 5 1/8 x 7 7/8 inches.

The Vive no. 1D, or the $6.00 dollar Vive, was manufactured in circa 1898. This camera was the same as the No. 1, $5.00 camera, except that it was fitted with the Vive Patent Dust and Lens cap and three Diaphragms.
