Vive MPC Magazine, Focusing Style

The Vive MPC Magazine, Focusing Style, or Vive Portrait and View Camera, was manufactured from approximately 1900 to 1902. MPC stands for mechanical plate changing. This camera was capable of taking images 4 x 5 in size on 12 preloaded plates. Marketed as 'Better than a folding or box camera because it gives you the advantage of both in one'. Constructed of wood and covered in fine seal grain leather with a leather handle, and two large brilliant finders, with polished nickel trimmings. Additional features included, iris diaphrams, pneumatic bulb release, automatic counting and non-setting shutter. in 1900 the Vive Focusing MPC sold for $12.50.
