Monroe No. 2A Camera

The No.2A camera was manufactured by the Monroe Camera Company starting in may 1899. The No. 2A was of the same compact struct folding design as the No. 2 pocket camera, however it was fitted with an Eastman Roll Film holder. It was Capable of capturing the largest of Monore's pocket camera line with images 3 1/4 x 4 1/4 inch in size. The roll film holder could be removed and replaced with a back to accomodate the use of dry plates. The camera was constructed of seasoned wood with black morrocan leather covering, Red leather Bellows and brass hardware. This camera was produced for a very short time. Very shortly upon its introduction the Monroe company merged with the Rochester Optical Company in a business war with the Eastman Kodak Company. It is believe that there are very few examples of this model.
