The Imperial Camera was manufactured by the American Optical Co. as early as circa 1871. This camera was a standard for a period of time for American Optical. The 1880s camera depicted was constructed of fine Mahogany, India rubber bellows, double swing back, swinging ground glass, lever focusing adjustment, and V-shaped guides on the platform. The camera can be used for all single portraits up to 8 x 10 and can accommodate 4-4 tube lens assembly. Available in sizes 8 x 10, 10 x 12, 11 x 14, 12 x 15, and 14 x 17. Pricing ranged from $40 to $100 dollars.
