  Acme Reversible Back View Camera by Scovill

The Acme Reversible Back View Camera was manufactured by the Scovill Manufacturing company in circa 1890. This camera is similar to the St. Louis reversible back patent camera manufactured by the American Optical company from circa 1883. The main difference is that St. Louis was a front focusing camera with rack and pinion movement and the Acme is a rear focusing with manual adjust. Constructed of polished mahogany, cone bellows, patent reversible back, vertical shifting fronts and folding platforms with patent bed latch, compact, light and portable. This camera came in 6 1/2 x 8 1/2, 8 x 10, 10 x 12, 11 x 14, 14 x 17, 17 x 20, 20 x 24, and 18 x 22 sizes with prices ranging from $33 to $90 dollars.
