The Royal Camera was manufactured by the American Optical Co. in circa 1895. The Royal camera did the same work a the Imperial camera. It has a carriage for the plate-holder and ground glass is adjacent so that it can be brought into focus use while the plate is installed and ready for use. After securing the focus, the operator merely slides the ground glass to one side and simultaneously brings the plate holder into place. Available in 8 x 10, 10 x 12, 11 x 14, and 14 x 17 sizes. Pricing ranged from $50 to $110.
