Saint Louis Reversible Back by Am Optical

The St. Louis reversible back patent camera was manufactured by the American Optical company from approximately 1883 to 1896, in order to accommodate the growing use of dry plates and the desire for rapid exposures. In addition to the feature of back focus reversible back, the camera have the rack and pinion movement, patent latch for making the bed rigid instantaneously, and the ground-glass so arranged that the holder may be slid in front of it. as illustrated. Each camera is supplied with one Daisy Holder with patent registering Slides and canvas case. This camera came in 4 1/4 x 5 1/2, 5 x 7, 6 1/2 x 8 1/2, 8 x 10, and 11 x 14 sizes.
