  Petite Camera by Scovill Mfg. Co.

The Petite Camera was manufactured by the Scovill manufacturing Company from approximately 1883 to 1894. This pocket camera was made to suit the refined taste of one of Vassar's fair students and provided a 3 1/4 to 4 1/4 camera to make negatives of suitable size for lantern slides. Constructed of finely polished mahogany with a cherry base, black fabric bellows, and brass lacquered hardware. Features included a single swing, folding bed, vertical shifting front, and other desirable improvements. In 1883 the Petite Camera with one double dry plate holder was priced at $12.00. the Same Camera with Scovill's adjustable feather weight tripod and canvas bag with shoulder strap $17.00.
