The Italian camera company ISO, which stood for Industria Scientifica Ottica S.R.L, was founded in circa 1947 in Milan by the Vigan family. The firm was based on the design of the 35mm Lux camera, a faithful copy of the Leica III.
In 1953, a commercial agreement was signed with the German company Hensoldt AG Wetzlar, controlled by Zeiss, for the reporter and standard. It was sold under the Hensoldt brand and also by ISO. These two models remained in production until 1960.
In 1955, ISO introduced a stereo camera, the Duplex 120 at the Fiera di Milano trade fair. It began selling to the public shortly thereafter under the name Duplex Super 120. It allowed the operator to capture one or two double images due to two separate lenses. Later in 1956, a simpler and cheaper model was produced, called Duplex 120. Approximately 10,000 units were made of the Duplex Super 120 and about 3,000 of the Duplex 120. ISO remained in Production until about 1970.
