The Gem Poco box Camera was manufactured by Rochester Camera Mfg. Co. from approximately 1895 to 1900. There were several versions of this camera. The early version contained a round view finder and later a square viewfinder. The original was constructed with a fixed focus achromatic lens, Rochester safety shutter which took 3 1/4 by 4 1/4 inch images or quarter plate. Covered in fine morocco leather and leather handle. This camera was fitted with 2 tripod plates and 2 view finders. the camera was compact and measured 4 1/2 by 6 by 7 inches. The camera accommodated 3 holders. Later models came in two sizes, the original quarter plate size, and a larger 4 x 5 size which measured 8 by 5 1/4 by 6 3/4 inches.
