The camera company Belca-Werk was established in 1951. It was originally called the Balda-Werk of East Germany after WWII. It continued operations until 1957, at which time it was absorbed into VEB Kamera-Werke Niedersedlitz company. Several of the cameras, Belfoca I, Belfoca II, Belmira and Beltica II continued to be produced by VEB Kamera-Werk in their Welta factory.
