  Folding Montauk, Style III by G. Gennert

The Folding Montauk, Style III was manufactured by G. Gennert from approximately 1893 to 1900. It was designed as an inexpensive hand camera for ordinary instantaneous and time exposures with the complicated adjustments needed only to meet special conditions omitted. It was constructed of mahogany polished by the French system. The polished brass work lacquered and the external covering is of genuine grained leather neat and durable.

The Montauk III has a central upright swing spring ground glass, rising and falling front, reversible finder, removable front board, rear door for accurate focusing, likewise focusing scale, and two tripod plates for upright or horizontal work. In Montauk III they introduced a new Presto Shutter. A simple form of time and instantaneous shutter with pneumatic and trigger release, fitted with Rapid Symmetrical lens which is perfectly rectilinear and achromatic. Montauk III takes the double detective holder with rubber slides, a roll holder using cartridge films that can be loaded in broad daylight and can be attached instantly. Available in both 4 x 5 and 5 x 7 sizes. Price for 1898 was $15.00 and $22.00 respectively.
