  Stereo Montauk by G. Gennert

The Stereo Montauk was manufactured by G. Gennert from approximately 1898 to 1910. One of its selling points was the ability of this camera to be used for either stereo or single photographs of the full size of the plate through the feature of a removable lens board. An additional lens is available, thus a 5 x 7 Stereo Camera will make a 5x7 as well as Stereo pictures and one half of the Stereo picture is just the right size for Lantern Slides. The 5x8 Stereo Camera can also be used for 4 x 5 prints and lantern slides utilizing only one lens or one half of the Stereo Negative making two pictures on one plate.

The Stereo Montauk has rising and falling front, sliding front and rack and pinion movement, single swing and divided bed for short focus lenses, also spring actuated ground glass frame. provided with Rapid Symmetrical Lenses with Bausch & Lomb Time and Instantaneous Shutter and Iris Diaphragm in matched pairs or a matched pair of Ross Goerz Lenses or a pair of Colinear Lenses.

The 5x7 Stereo Camera is of the weight and general style of the Montauk I and furnished with Detective holders. The 5x8 size has greater solidity and weight is preferred by professional photographers and supplied with Xtralite holders.
