The Argus 21 camera was manufactured by Argus Inc. from 1947 to 1952. The camera was constructed of a metal body covered in black leather and chrome trim. It accepted standard 35mm film producing 1 x 1 1/2 inch negatives. It featured a built-in "markfinder" view finder that provides a line box in the optics for aligning the photo in addition to extra space around the line box which gives illusion of a frame of light projected around the subject. It had built-in flash synchronization, automatic exposure counter and a film metering device. Advancing the film would cock the shutter for the next shot and prevent double exposures. It was fitted with a Cintar f3.5 coated anastigmat 50mm lens focusing from 3 feet to infinity. The pre-set shutter provided speeds from 1/10 to 1/200th of a second plus bulb. The camera was originally priced around $51.75. Case and flash were extra.
