Long Focus Cycle Montauk by G. Gennert

The Long Focus Cycle Montauk was manufactured by G. Gennert starting in 1898. The Long Focus Cycle Montauk was designed with specially long extension of bellows to meet the need arising from the wide spread use of lenses having a long focal length and desiring an extremely compact camera. This camera is constructed with neat leather bellows which by means of rack and pinion construction can be extended to twice the usual length. The back of the camera is square or reversible, so that it can be removed and turned ninety degrees so that the plate holder and plate will lie either in a horizontal or a vertical position. This obviates the necessity of reversing the entire camera when using it on a tripod and gives the steadiness required of a long focus instrument. The reversible back has the spring actuated ground glass and the door for focusing. It takes the popular Detective plate holder or the day light roll holder using cartridge films. The front of the camera is rising and falling the front board. A removable a tripod plate, focusing scale and reversible plain finder are also provided. The lens is a rapid symmetrical achromatic and rectilinear and is fitted either with a Unicum Shutter or the simple form of Presto shutter both having pneumatic or trigger release for time or instantaneous exposures. Available in both 4 x 5 and 5 x 7 sizes.
