The No. 4 Folding Kodet Special was manufactured by the Eastman Kodak company from approximately 1894 to 1897. Constructed of mahogany wood, leather covered case, polished and lacquered brass hardware, a black bellows, a reversible finder, Adjustable double swing back,Ground glass with hinged door in back, Improved shutter for time or instantaneous photos, and two tripod sockets. Images can be focused either by viewing the image in the ground glass screen or by using the mechanical index scale. This camera captured 4 x 5 inch pictures. The lens is fitted with revolving stops and shutter is for instant or time exposures. When folded the camera measured 5 1/4 x 5 1/4 x 6 1/2 inches and weighed two pounds. The Folding Kodet can be used with either plates or roll film (roll film holder extra). Price in 1895 was $15.00.
