Monroe Pocket No. 2

The Pocket Monroe No. 2 was made by the Monroe Camera Company of Rochester in circa 1897. Design for compactness and portability by Silas French and patented in 1897. The camera is constructed of mahogany with brass struts and a red leather bellows. The no. 2 captured 3 1/2 x 3 1/2 inch sized exposures on plates or cut film. A special double sided brass plate holder came with the camera. The camera measures a mere 4 1/4 x 4 1/4 x 1 1/2 inches when closed. It was originally priced at $7.50.
