  Demon Dectective Camera

The Demon Detective Camera was the only camera manufactured by the American Camera Co. of London, England. It was patented in July of 1888 with patent no. 10823 by Walter O'Reilly. The camera was then manufactured by the American Camera Co. from 1889 to approximately 1905. The original model, no. 1, was capable of capturing exposures 2 1/4 x 2 1/4 inch in size. It was fitted with a fixed focus 30mm f10 lens and a simple spring shutter. The later model no. 2 introduced in 1890 took 3 1/4 x 3 1/4 inch square exposures. Made of bright metal with the words 'The Demon Camera - The Wonder of the world' stamped on the back.
