The Petite Century No. 1 was manufactured by the Century Camera Company from 1904 to approximately 1910. It was a compact non-reversible back camera in two sizes. It was mde in a quarter plate size, 3 1/4 x 4 1/4 inches and a 5 x 4 inch size. The quarter plate measured 5 1/4 x 4 1/4 x 1 1/2 inches when closed and weighing 18 Oz and the 5 x 4 measured 6 x 2 1/8 x 5 1/8 inches and weighed 23 ounces. The Petite Century No. 1 was capable of capturing exposures on plates or film pack. The body was constructed of wood with the bed made of aluminum. It was covered in black leather with a red bellows and nickel trimmings. The front was adjustable up or down and a brilliant view finder was attached to the bed, Automatic clams held the front in any position. It was fitted with a Century Rapid Rectilinear lens and a No. 3 automatic shutter. The ground glass in the rear of the camera provides a full size image for focusing.
