Conley Folding Camera, Model VIII

The Conley Folding Camera, Model VIII was manufactured by the Conley Camera Company of Rochester, Minnesota from approximately 1900 - 1916. This camera was designed with the the highest grade materials, workmanship and inspection. It was available in both 4 x 5 and 5 x 7 size. The camera was constructed of solid mahogany wood, dovetailed, rounded corners and hand rubbed piano finish. It was covered in genuine seal grain leather. The bellows were made of the best red Russian leather, gossamer lined. All metal parts were made of brass with nickel plating and highly polished. The back is non-reversible with a spring actuated ground glass and hinged leather back panel. The lens was a high grade double rectilinear and the shutter was an automatic Conley Junior with pneumatic release. It utilized the conley improved flexible valve plate holder, a reversible view finder and two tripod sockets, and an adjustable all metal rising and falling front. The 4x5 camera measured closed 2 1/2 x 5 1/4 x 6 1/4 inches and the 5x7 size measured 2 3/4 x 6 5/8 x 8 1/2 inches.
