  Virl Camera by Watson & Sons

The Virl Camera was manufactured by W. Watson & Sons from approximately 1910 to 1913. A strut folding camera design, with spring arms which readies the camera quickly and folds compactly. It was fitted with a focal plane shutter capable of instantaneous speeds from 1/15 up to 1/1200 of a second, including time. All speed adjustments are on the outside of the camera. A Watson Holostigmat series I lens was the standard issue for this camera. Available in four sizes, a quarter plate, 5 x 4 inches, half plate, and stereoscopic. Pricing ranged from £11 to £20.
