Twin Lens Camera by Watson & Sons

Watsons Twin Lens Camera was manufactured by W. Watson & Sons in circa 1897. Designed as an improvement to regular reflex camera to allow the photographer to focus and see the image to be captured up to and during exposure. Watson's camera is made to minimize bulk so that it is not much larger than a regular camera. Constructed of mahogany and covered in solid black leather. It was fitted with a pair of rapid rectilinear lens and a Thornton-Pickard time and instantaneous shutter. A sling is provided to support the camera on the chest. Made in three sizes. The quarter plate size (4 1/4 x 3 1/4) was sold for £15 15s and measured 7 x 5 1/4 x 7 1/4 inches. The 5 x 4 inch size sold for £17 and measured 7 3/4 x 6 x 8 inches and the 6 1/2 x 4 3/4 inch size sold for £20 and measured 8 1/2 x 9 x 10 inches.
