Popular Camera by Watson & Sons

datasheet_loginThe Popular Camera was manufactured by the W. Watson & Sons Ltd. company in circa 1890. The Popular was made in two versions. The horizontal version A which was adapted to use on the side for upright pictures by repositioning the camera. Version B was a square bellows with a reversible frame at the back to take either horizontal or vertical pictures without moving the camera. Constructed of mahogany and a leather bellows. Designed as a folding tail board for portability. The Popular also featured rack and pinion focusing adjustment, a swing back, and a rising, falling and cross front movement. Version A was made in several sizes including, a quarter plate, 5 x 4, half plate, and whole plate with prices ranging from £4 10 0 to £7 10 0. Version B was made in quarter plate, 5 x 4, 6 1/2 x 4 3/4, 7 1/2 x 5 and whole plate with pricing ranging from £5 0 0 to £8 10 0. A Rapid Rectilinear lens with water house stops was sold separately.
