The Instanto Camera was manufactured by the E & T Underwood company from approximately 1886 to 1905. A popular model designed as a high quality stand camera in the English style. Constructed of seasoned mahogany, brass fittings and a red or black leather bellows. Sold in three options for lens shutter combination. It was fitted with a Meniscus lens, or a rectilinear lens, also sold with a optional patent roller blind shutter mounted behind the lens. Made in a quarter plate, half plate and whole plate size. Depending on lens and shutter combinations the Instanto camera was priced from £2 4s 6d to £6 2s.
