No. 2 Lightning Camera from Benetfink

The No. 2 Lightning hand camera was sold by the Benetfink and Company Ltd. photo supply depot in circa 1898. Designed similar to the No. 1 Lightning hand camera except that the No. 2 includes a rack and pinion mechanism for focusing adjustment. Designed as a simple to use automatic plate changing magazine camera, capable of carrying twelve plates or twenty four cut films with one loading. The changing mechanism provided an exposure count indicator to show how many exposures have been taken. The no. 2 was fitted with a rapid rectilinear lens with rotating diaphragms. The shutter provided time and instantaneous exposures for 1/5, 1/25, 1/50 or 1/100 of a second. Two brilliant view finders are built in for vertical or horizontal views, in addition to two tripod sockets for stand work. Exposed plates were able to be removed from the light tight chamber without interfering with those that are unexposed. Made in quarter plate (4 1/4 x 3 1/4 inch) size and priced 88s net.
