Goerz Tropical and Press Camera

The Goerz Anshutz Tropical Camera was manufactured by the C. P. Goerz Optical Works from approximately 1896 to 1922. Similar to the Klappkamera, model 1. This camera was constucted of special material suitable for use in the tropics. Constructed of hardened and impregnated wood to resist bending and warping, with a black finish. The bellows were made from Russian leather and the camera body was covered in Russian leather to resist the attacks of insects. The metal parts are nickelled brass. A Goerz-Anschultz focal plane shutter provides speeds to 1/1000 of a second. Tropical cameras were made in quarterplate, 5 x 4, postcard, half plate and stereo.
