  Century Camera, Model No. 27



The Century Camera, Model No. 27 was manufactured by the Century Camera Company in circa 1903. Designed to meet the need for a compact long focus camera at a moderate price.

The camera was constructed of solid mahogany box with dovetail joints and covered in black leather. The brass hardware is highly polished and lacquered. The triple extension telescoping bed is highly polished mahogany and attached with piano hinge. The telescoping bed extends with rack and pinion movement for focusing with a century patent pinion lock. The front provides a rising, falling and cross swing with a patent automatic bed clamp. Both a swing back and swing bed are provided in the design. The back is reversible with automatic screen and wooden panel. The camera was fitted with a Century Rapid Convertible lens and a Century Automatic, No. 1 shutter with operations for instantaneous, time and bulb exposures. A brass bound, hooded and reversible three lens brilliant finder is provided for vertical or horizontal images.

The Century Camera, Model No. 27 was made in two sizes, a 4 x 5 inch and 5 x 7 inch. The cameras were originally priced at $31.00 and $39.00 respectively.
