Newman & Guardia H. S. (High Speed) Pattern

Newman & Guardia H. S. (High Speed) Pattern was manufactured from approximately 1899 to 1905. As the name implies this was a camera with special capability for high speed exposures, while retaining all the N & G features. This camera was fitted with a special constructed lens shutter large enough for the extreme aperture of the Zeiss Planar f3.8 lens or the Unar f4.5 Astigmatic lens. The shutter provided the full range of automatic exposure from 1/2 to 1/100 second and also time exposures. In addition this camera contained a detachable double blind focal plane shutter capable of 1/10th to 1/800th second speed. The two shutters worked independently of each other and each is provided with a locking device to keep it fixed open when the other shutter is being used. This camera was available in three sizes, 1/4 plate, 5 x 4 inches, and 1/2 plate, in addition a 9 x 12 cm size was available as special order. Priced at 32 10S for the 1/4 plate, 37 10S for the 5 x 4 plate and 45 for the 1/2 plate.
