The Primus Focal Plane Camera was manufactured by the W. Butcher & Sons Ltd. company in circa 1897. The box camera was constructed of wood and covered in best leather. It featured a Thornton-Pickard Swift time and instantaneous focal plane shutter capable of adjustable speeds from 1/200 to 1/1000 of a second. Ii was fitted with a Rapid Euryscope lens working at f6 and capable of taking quarter plate sized exposures. Originally priced at �8 8s 0d.
