  Carbine Cameras

The carbine series of cameras were manufactured by the W. Butcher & Sons Ltd. companyf from approximately 1903 to 1930. Over the life of the Carbine line, many variations were produced. The were good quality, inexpensive German made roll film cameras, however they were adaptable for plates. Model No. 4 is depicted to the right. Made in quarter plate and post card sizes, except the No. 5 was also made in half plate size. fitted with various lens and shutter combinations, including Beck rapid rectilinear or Symmetrical lens and a Baush & Lomb, Primus, or simple automatic shutter.
