  Boy's Own Set by J. Lancaster & Son

The Boy's Own Set by J. Lancaster & Son was introduced in approximately 1893. Designed as a cheap camera for boys at school, with guaranteed quality. This original set was made up of a polished mahogany camera, with single dark slide, achromatic meniscus lens, ruby lamp, printing frame, ebonite dishes, plates, chemicals for negatives or plates, sensitized paper and an instruction book. Available in three sizes, a quarter plate, half plate and full plate. Prices ranged from £1 1s to £3 3s.
