The Le Merveilleux Camera Patented camera, version 1, was manufactured by J. Lancaster & Son Ltd from 1880 to approximately 1904. Version 2 was subsequently introduced with an all metal front. A light, strong, durable, and compact mahogany wood camera, with single extension bellows. Hinged focusing slide that folds up over on top of the camera when the dark slide is inserted. The slide was easily reversible for horizontal or vertical photos. Available on six sizes; a quarter plate, half plate, full plate, 10 x 8, 12 x 10, 15 x 12 inches.
