Ladies Camera (version 2)

The Ladies Camera (version 2) patent, was introduced by the J. Lancaster & Sons in 1894 and continued until at least 1906 at such time a new Ladies Gem model was introduced. This camera was designed especially for ladies, folding up to look like a reticule, or a a woman's drawstring bag used especially as a carryall. It was designed to be free from complications, extremely light and strong. Constructed of polished mahogany and covered in hard leather. The camera consists of a folding tail board, a risng front. Fitted with an achromatic lens with iris diaphragms for portraits groups and views. Sold as a set which included the camera, lens, shutter, tripod and double dry slide. Available in quarter plate, half plate, and full plate sizes. Prices ranged from £0 42 to £0 126.
