  Ladies Camera (version 1)

The J. Lancaster & Sons Ladies Camera (version 1) was introduced in approximately 1886 and continued until 1894 when the second version Ladies Camera was introduced. Designed especially for ladies, to be free from complications, extremely light and strong. Constructed of polished mahogany with a folding tail board design, a patent reversible back. Fitted with an achromatic lens in rack mount for portraits, groups and views. Available in quarter plate size (carte), half plate size (cabinet), and full plate size. Prices ranged from £1 15 to £4 5. The camera only was also sold upon request in larger sizes, of 10 x 8, 12 x 10, and 15 x 12.
