Dandycam Camera

The Dandycam Automatic Camera was manufactured by W. Butcher & Sons in circa 1913. Designed as a simplified box camera for taking ferrotype medallion portraits. This type of photography was typically reserved for professional and street photographers. This camera was Butcher's attempt to bring that technology into the hands of the amateur. Butcher simplified the development process such that the amateur could insert the plates and withdraw the finished product. It was a fixed focus camera with a sunken finder located below the handle. The development of the photograph occurred within the light tight camera box.
