Pocket Cameo ( Early Models)

The Pocket Cameo camera was introduced W. Butcher & Sons in approximately 1901. The cameo had several design changes, and most dramatically in the 1910's when the camera took on the ebony look and that style is listed here. Originally designed for quarter plates and folds into the incredible space of 5 1/2 by 4 by 1 inch thick and weighs under 12 ounces. Covered in handsome leatherette with achromatic lens, rotating diaphragm stops and a time and instantaneous shutter. In 1903 the front was redesigned to be more rigid and the lens upgraded and exchangeable as depicted below. With these upgrades several models were available including:

Model 1 - Quarter plate, Single Lens, Everset Shutter, Single Extension, Mahogany Baseboard
Model 2 - Quarter plate, Single Lens, Adjustable Shutter, Single Extension, Aluminum Baseboard
Model 3 - Quarter plate, Beck Rapid Rectilinear Lens, Adjustable Shutter, Single Extension, Aluminum Baseboard
Model 3 - Postcard size, Beck Rapid Rectilinear Lens, Adjustable Shutter, Single Extension, Aluminum Baseboard
Model 4 - Postcard size, Beck Symmetrical Lens, B&L Simplex Shutter, Double Extension, Aluminum Baseboard
Model 5 - Quarter plate, Beck Symmetrical Lens, B&L Simplex Shutter, Double Extension, Aluminum Baseboard
