The Standard Camera

The Standard Box Camera was manufctured by W. Butcher & sons in circa 1903. A box camera designed like many others of that time period as an inexpensive magazine camera with an advertising theme of the universal camera or the Standard. Constructed of wood and covered in black leatherette with a solid leather handle. It featured a good quality view lens and a time and instantaneous shutter with adjustable diaphragms. Two ground glass finders. Capable of taking twelve plates or twenty-four cut films on quarter plates (4 1/4 x 3 1/4 inches) with the infallible changing system . Originally priced at 7s 6p.
